Ceremony of signature of Grant Contract for the project for the improvement of sports facilities for youth development in Kanifing Municipal Area and the project for improvement of agricultural environment

14th February 2011, Shoji OTAKE, Counsellor of the Embassy of Japan in the Gambia and Mr. Momodou Dibba, President of the Gambia National Olympic Committee, signed a Grant Contract concerning the project for the improvement of sports facilities for youth development in Kanifing. The counsellor and Mr.Banky Njie, general manager of Gambia is Good Concern Universal, also signed the Grant Contract concerning the project for improvement of agricultural environment.

The first project led by the Gambia National Olympic Committee received a grant about 60,000 euros under the framework of the Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Cultural Projects. It also allows to install the equipments to promote Karate and Judo.

The second project, about 70,000 euros under the Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects(GGP), consists in purchasing trucks for transportation of vegetables and building green tunnels for the agricultural training. These equipments helps the gambian farmers to improve their living environment.

The Counsellor wished that these projects be successful and reinforce the relationship between the Gambia and Japan in his speech.

Mr. Momodou Dibba et Mr. Banky Njie expressed their thanks to the Japanese Government and the people of Japan.
