Delivery Ceremony of the speedboat for Japan’s FY 2020 supplementary budget project through IOM (June 21, 2022)

On June 21, Ambassador Izawa attended the delivery ceremony of a speedboat provided to the Gambian Immigration Service in the framework of the Government of Japan’s FY2020 Supplementary Budget Project through IOM "Strengthening the Working Capacity of Gambian Authorities Engaged in Border Control, Health Management and Fight against COVID-19". The speedboat is expected to enhance the maritime surveillance and migrant protection capabilities off the coast of The Gambia.
On the same day, Ambassador Izawa also visited the Migration Information and Data Analysis System (MIDAS) at the Gambia's Immigration Office in Banjul with the cooperation of the IOM Gambia Office. The Government of Japan, in cooperation with the IOM Gambia Office, provides technical cooperation and equipment.
