Exchange of Notes relating to Food Assistance for The Gambia signed in Roma between the World Food Program and the Government of Japan

On 13th August 2015, in Roma where the head-quarters of the World Food Program (WFP) is located, the Ambassador of Japan in Italy and Assistant Executive Director a.i. exchanged the notes on Food Assistance to the Republic of The Gambia through WFP for the amount of two hundred and sixty million Japanese Yen (¥ 260.000.000), approximately 87 million Gambian Dalasi.
Thanks to this agreement, WFP will hand over to the Gambian People, on behalf of the Government of Japan, a stock of canned fish dedicated, among others, to school feeding programs so as to encourage enrolment and keeping of children, especially girls, to school.
This food assistance will also help cover the food needs in The Gambia, especially those of the underprivileged.
