Inauguration Ceremonies for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects in the Gambia
Two ceremonies were held in the attendance of Mr. Hideya Sato, the First Secretary of the Embassy of Japan, so as to celebrate the completion of Grass-Roots Human Security Projects in the Gambia on October 4th and 5th, 2016. The inaugurated projects are “The Project for Rehabilitation and Construction of ABC Learning Center” and “The Project for supplying medical equipment to the Westfield Clinic.”
“The Project for Rehabilitation and Construction of ABC Learning Centre”
Total amount of the Grant: 74,571 euros
Name of the Recipient: A Better Chance Learning Centre
Project Outline: The rehabilitation of the early childhood development centre named “ABC1”, and the secondary school named “ABC3”, including the construction of a new school building.

Total amount of the Grant: 73,314 euros
Name of the Recipient: The Westfield Clinic
Project Outline: Purchasing the blood test equipment and six other medical equipments, which enable the clinic to provide efficient and accurate medical diagnosis.
Variety of participants graced each ceremony including heads of organizations, high level officials from ministries, children and elderly neighbors, who were all excited to witness the joyful moments of inauguration. The guests made warm speeches, representing the Gambian people who appreciate Japan’s continued development assistance. The fact that many journalists from local newspapers as well as TV station attended the ceremonies demonstrates the high level of interest from local media. These two implemented projects on the areas of Health and Education will contribute to the enhancement of the Gambian People’s welfare and to the achievement of further development of the country.
